About the journey

Discerning travellers looking for a true Sri Lanka experience will find our 7-day Hill Country Holiday combines scenic railway journeys with city tours, wildlife encounters and cultural experiences.

A trip to Sri Lanka does not necessarily have to be a sun, sand and sea experience. For discerning travellers looking for a more balanced experience of all that Sri Lanka has to offer, we have put together a 7-day tour in Sri Lanka’s scenic hill country.

This amazing itinerary combines a steady succession of city tours, wildlife encounters and ever-changing scenery with plenty of free time for you to explore independently or relax and make the most of your hotel facilities.

This trip includes two noteworthy highlights – the breathtaking journey by first class train from Colombo to the lake-side city of Kandy, high in the hills. A second railway journey includes lunch as you travel in luxury from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya on one of the most scenic railway journeys in the world. If that doesn’t take your breath away, the optional guided hike to World’s End and Baker’s Falls in Horton Plains National Park certainly will!

This 7-day adventure includes the cities of Colombo and Kandy, beautiful gardens, cultural experiences, touring a tea estate and wildlife encounters at a local Elephant Orphanage. Our perfectly planned itinerary means you and your luggage are transported in comfort and safety at your own pace without the need to find your way around foreign cities, drive strange roads or even carry your own bags.

Our local presence and bulk buying power allows us to source the best hotels in Sri Lanka at the lowest prices, recruit reliable driver/guides and obtain the best seats for your amazing railway journeys. At the end of the week you probably won’t want to leave Sri Lanka so soon, so we suggest you extend your wonderful Hill Country Holiday with a few days on the coast.  Relax on the beach, explore local villages, visit a turtle hatchery, see a cricket match or take a dolphin and whalewatching trip. You’ll be so glad you did!
